El Toro

Our next stop was El Toro. So it was back to the bus and off again across the island. By this point everybody was singing along to the music on the bus and we at the front were chatting away happily to the driver of the bus.

Monte Toro is the highest point on Menorca, it is Menorca's mountain. Fredo told us that the tradiiton says that if you want to wish for something you have to go up the mountain on foot to make the wish come true. We went by bus. Once there everyone went their different ways to eat their packed lunch and to relax a bit. I asked Fredo to show me round the monastery that is up there and to tell me a little about the different areas of the island, most of which you can see from the top. Since then I have found a virtual tour of the top of El Toro which is here, and in this you can see the view for yourself.

We didn't do an awful lot more than enjoy the sun on the terrace of the bar and relax. Other people were busier than us.



As you can see it was windy up there. The best thing about El Toro for me was the ice cream that Fredo told Guillem and I we had to try. It was an ice cream made and sold only on the islands and really was exceptional.
